West Coast young gun Reuben Ginbey has added hypnotism to his pre-season preparations with the Eagles’ top draft pick filmed getting involved at a Perth Fringe Show.

During hypnotist Matt Hale’s 80s-themed Top Fun show, the 18-year-old got out of his seat to put on an epic air-drumming performance to The Proclaimers’ hit I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).

The 190cm midfielder pranced across the stage, putting his hands on his hips before getting on one knee and throwing his arms around in a circular motion as Hale yelled “double time.”

He was joined on stage by fellow 2022 draftee Harry Barnett, who couldn’t contain his laughter as Ginbey moved back and forth across the stage to the crowd’s raucous applause.

“Absolute superstars!” Hale said of the pair on Instagram, before labelling it a “crazy night” at Fringe.

Ginbey was selected by the Eagles’ first pick in the 2022 draft (No.9), while developing ruckman Barnett was taken with the club’s third pick (No.23).

The young Eagles appeared to be enjoying blowing off steam at the Fringe show, as West Coast prepare to get stuck into the final month of pre-season preparations ahead of round one.

With the club’s first fixture scheduled for March 18, Ginbey looms as a chance to make an early debut after impressing in his first pre-season.

The Eagles will play in an intra-club hit out on Friday, before taking on Port Adelaide in a six-period match simulation before playing Adelaide in a practice match on March 3.
