Leeds United have moved level on points with Championship leaders Sunderland as they sealed a 2-1 win over Watford following two blunders from Hornets goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann.

The Austrian was at fault for both of Leeds' goals inside the first seven minutes, first palming Largie Ramazani's shot over the line then parrying Willy Gnonto's cross directly to Brenden Aaronson to score.

Kwadwo Baah pulled one back two minutes after the break for Watford but Leeds held on to move up to second.

Daniel Farke's side are level on points and goal difference with the Black Cats, who retain their position at the summit by virtue of having won one more match than Leeds.

Cardiff City, thanks partly to Socceroos midfielder Alex Robertson, have climbed out of the relegation zone with a second home win in the space of four days.

A Regan Poole own goal and Callum Robinson's close-range effort put hosts Cardiff in command after 13 minutes against Portsmouth on a night when the Bluebirds' only regret was that the winning margin should have been far greater than the final 2-0 scoreline.

Tuesday night's victory, fresh from Saturday's 5-0 thrashing of Plymouth Argyle, will strengthen interim manager Omer Riza's hand in landing the job on a permanent basis.

Since losing his maiden outing at Hull, Riza has harvested 10 points from four games to leave Portsmouth at the foot of the table.

Pompey claimed a first scalp of their season at QPR at the weekend, but an inept opening 45 minutes left them with a mountain to climb in a city where they have not registered a league win for 40 years.

After a sixth-minute own goal, Cardiff doubled their lead in the 13th after Robertson, barracked by the away following after a promising but injury-hit Portsmouth loan spell last season, swung over a corner that Robinson prodded home via the underside of the crossbar for his fourth of the season.

Portsmouth went close when another Australian attacker in Kusini Yengi saw his strike deflect off teammate Callum Lang and Jak Alnwick made a tremendous reflex stop low to his right.

"I've done plenty of swearing in the dressing room. It was a really poor performance and the biggest disappointment for me was the slow start," Pompey boss John Mousinho said.

Elsewhere, Kieran Morgan's first career goal helped lift QPR off the bottom as they drew 1-1 against Coventry City.

Norwich City fought back from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw at Preston North End, as did Bristol City at Stoke City.

Oxford United drew 1-1 with Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday's clash with Swansea City finished goalless.
