ROUND 18 OF THE A-LEAGUE WOMEN COMPETITION AT A GLANCE:

THEY SAID IT: "It definitely feels like one that got away from us," Wanderers skipper Amy Harrison after her side slumped to a 2-1 loss to Wellington which left them wallowing in second-last place, nine points outside the top six.

WOMAN OF THE WEEK: Kelli Brown brought Western United undone with a hard-won double in the Glory's 3-0 win. Perth are now just six points outside the top six, keeping their faint finals hopes alive.

STAT ATTACK:

BEAT THAT: Mebae Tanaka's equaliser for Wellington against Western Sydney was seriously special. A shallow clearance from a corner bobbled out to Tanaka, who turned on to her right and let rip with a wonderful strike into the roof of the net.

UNDER PRESSURE: United's loss to Perth was a demoralising one. Kat Smith's charges are now 14 points shy of leaders Melbourne City and currently aren't in the mix for a top two spot. That defeat instead leaves them vulnerable in the pack fighting for finals berths full stop.

UP NEXT: On Friday, finals contenders Western United and Canberra face off, while the Mariners host Perth. On Saturday, Victory travel to Western Sydney and Sydney FC host Wellington. Melbourne City host Adelaide in the game of the round on Sunday, while Brisbane take on Newcastle.
