Jokic posts 19th triple-double as Nuggets stun Sixers

Nikola Jokic has scored 27 points to go with 13 rebounds and 10 assists for his 19th triple-double of the NBA season, as the Denver Nuggets thrashed the Philadelphia 76ers 144-109.

Jokic finished his triple-double late in the third quarter on Tuesday with an assist that led to a dunk by Aaron Gordon before sitting out the final period.

Gordon was six from seven from the floor, three from three from the 3-point range and hit all four free-throws to finish with 19 points.

The Nuggets had six players in double figures, including a 23-point performance from Julian Strawther.

Tyrese Maxey had 28 points and 10 assists for a Sixers team that remains without standout big man Joel Embiid due to swelling in his left knee.

In New York, Karl-Anthony Towns had 25 points and 16 rebounds, Jalen Brunson scored eight points down the stretch and finished with 17 as the New York Knicks beat the Brooklyn Nets 99-95.

OG Anunoby scored 20 points and Precious Achiuwa had 11 points off the bench as the Knicks won their second straight game.

D'Angelo Russell finished with 23 points and 10 assists and Cam Johnson scored 16 for the Nets, who have lost four straight and nine of their last 10.

While in Miami, Anfernee Simons scored 24 points, Deandre Ayton had 22 and 15 rebounds, as Portland beat Miami 116-107.

Jerami Grant finished with 18 points and Deni Avdija added 16 for the Blazers, who lost by 60 the last time they played in Miami on March 29.

Shaedon Sharpe had 12 points while Scoot Henderson and Dalano Banton finished with 11 each.

Rookie Kel'el Ware had 20 points and 16 rebounds and Duncan Robinson finished with 22 points for the Heat, playing without leading scorer Tyler Herro, who missed his first game of the season because of groin tightness.

In other games, the Toronto Raptors eased past the Orlando Magic 109-93, and the Los Angeles Lakers were too good for the Washington Wizards winning 111-88.

LeBron James had 21 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds for the Lakers one day after flying to Atlanta and back to watch a football game on his day off, and Los Angeles sent Washington tumbling to their 11th consecutive defeat.

James recorded his 121st career triple-double and his ninth of the season.

The top scorer in NBA history showed no ill effects from his long trip Monday to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes beat Notre Dame in the college football championship.
