AFL expert Danielle Laidley runs the rule over every Fremantle Docker after their semifinal defeat.

Here’s who starred and who struggled.

FREMANTLE (v Adelaide)

1. Gabrielle Newton: 8

Landed heavily late in the first quarter after a solid start. Battled hard for the rest of the game showing some real courage, intent and work rate to finish with 19 touches and 8 clearances.

2. Emma O’Driscoll: 7

Provided a lot of run and helped Fremantle rebound from with her intercept possessions across the game as she tried to gain territory for an under-siege defence.

3. Jessica Low: 7

Had a terrific battle with Danielle Ponter, won many one-on-one contests, made some big spoils and stood tall under pressure.

4. Ash Brazill: 7

Played mostly on the dangerous Caitlin Gould and did a great job. She was able to also gain intercept possessions before being moved forward in the last quarter, where she played with real intent.

5. Ariana Hetherington: 7

Well and truly made the most of her opportunity by leading hard up the ground and marking deep in the forward line.

6. Mim Strom: 6

Intriguing battle in the ruck with Jessica Allan, with neither gaining great ascendancy. Not as prominent around the ground with marking and was muscled out of the contest at times.

7. Sarah Verrier: 6

Tidy game on the wing, with solid ball use. Her role at the centre bounces was important during the game.

8. Gabby O’Sullivan: 6

Very quiet first half but sprang to life in the third quarter with run and dash to try and gain metres and inside 50s for her team.

9. Aisling McCarthy: 6

Only six touches in the first half with the midfield down on personnel. Fought back in the second half with 12 disposals, but the horse had bolted.

10. Dana East: 5

Battled hard, filling the gap after the injuries to Newton and Hayley Miller in the first half. Eight tackles and four clearances showed she contested hard.

11. Orlagh Lally: 5

Quiet in the first half as she wasn’t able to get uncontested possessions to get the ball moving up field. She won contested possessions at stoppages in her cover role.

12. Laura Pugh: 5

Never stopped trying all game and was under huge pressure the longer the game went with Adelaide’s inside 50 count growing.

13. Madeleine Scanlon: 5

Stuck to the task and matched up on Chelsea Randall at times. Impacted the game with eight kicks and had five strong tackles.

14. Hayley Miller: 4

Solid start with five disposals in the first quarter before being injured early in the second quarter leaving a big gap for the Dockers to fill. Came back on in the third quarter to play mostly in the forward line.

15. Airlie Runnalls: 4

Had nine touches for the game but fumbled at times. She must keep stay on her feet in the contest.

16. Philipa Seth: 4

Continued to work hard across the game. The only Fremantle forward to kick a goal.

17. Gabby Biedenweg–Webster: 4

Showed good signs as a leading forward, made a big tackle and carried the ball strongly with solid decision-making. Moved to defence in the last quarter.

18. Ebony Antonio: 4

Presented and led well as a forward but missed two kickable goals. She must make the most of opportunities in finals.

19. Tunisha Kikoak: 4

Seven possessions in half a game was solid given the ball only went into the Fremantle forward 50 26 times.

20. Megan Kaufman: 4

Won seven contested possessions as a forward and worked hard given the lopsided game.

21. Jae Flynn: 3

Trailed her opponent into the contest at times as she struggled under the relentless Adelaide pressure.
