US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been briefed on the situation and spoken out after former President Donald Trump was the victim of another assassination attempt.

Not long after Mr Trump was swept up by Secret Servicer agents and deemed “safe” following a shootout on the Trump National Golf Club on Sunday, President Biden and Vice President Harris responded to the reported shooting.

According to the Associated Press, the White House said in a statement that Mr Biden and Ms Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, had both been briefed and will be kept updated on the investigation, adding that they are “relieved to know that he is safe.”

“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,” Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign communications director, said in a statement on Sunday afternoon.

In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, Ms Harris condemned the incident stating “violence has no place in America.”

“I have been briefed on reports of gunshots fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America,” she wrote.

Mr Trump wrote in a statement released by his campaign on Sunday, “I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again.”

The former president had returned to Florida this weekend after hosting a string of campaign events on the West Coast.
