Midland incident: Police swarm Ferguson Street after resident ‘attacked with knife by dangerous driver’

A Beechboro man will face court after he allegedly stabbed a resident, spat on a police officer and drove on the wrong side of the road in a violent rampage through Perth’s east. The ordeal unfolded when police received multiple triple-0 calls reporting a white Toyota Camry sedan being driven on the wrong side of Guildford Road in Guildford, about 5.25pm on Thursday. Police rushed to the area before they received a report about 5.30pm of a “serious assault” involving the driver of the Toyota outside a home on Ferguson Street Midland. They diverted from Guildford and found a 67-year-old man with lacerations to his arm outside the home. Police allege the Toyota driver — a 38-year-old man — attacked him with a knife. They pair are known to each other. During his arrest, the 38-year-old allegedly spat at a police officer. The resident was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries by St John WA. The driver has been charged with three offences; assault public officer, dangerous driving and with intent to do grievous bodily harm does grievous bodily harm to another. He will appear in Midland Magistrates Court on Friday.
