An Ellenbrook teenager has been seriously injured after his e-scooter was hit by a car in a shopping centre car park on Friday.

The 15-year-old was riding home from school about 3.20pm on Friday, when his scooter collided with a black Ford FE600 sedan near the Ellenbrook Shopping Centre on Main Street.

Deagan suffered serious head injuries in the accident and was rushed to Perth Children’s Hospital, where he underwent lifesaving surgery on Friday night.

A GoFundMe page has been organised to support Deagan and his family.

Organiser and family friend Kat Elmer-Gray said Deagan is a talented footballer and basketball player, but now faced a lengthy recovery.

She said Deagan was being monitored by doctors for head, spinal and other serious injuries.

“Deagan’s family is now facing the overwhelming task of supporting his lengthy recovery, which will involve multiple surgeries to reconstruct his facial and dental injuries, as well as any other injuries they uncover in the coming days,” Ms Elmer-Gray wrote on the page.

“This fundraiser is a chance to give Deagan and his family some relief from the financial strain and allow them to focus on helping him heal.

“We will ensure every donation goes directly to his mum Casey to put toward medical expenses, rehabilitation, travel expenses and future dental reconstruction.”

Police are investigating the cause of the accident. The male driver was not injured.
