Perth weather: Slight drop in temperature expected but intense heatwave conditions to continue
It’s grim news for the West Aussies hoping for a cool change, with severe heatwaves to continue across the State.
A poll conducted by PerthNow revealed more than 60 per cent of respondents were over the scorching heat but the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting at least another week of intense conditions.
Meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said that while temperatures would drop slightly in Perth on Friday, residents across the State would still be trying to escape the intense heat.
“Western Australia will see the severe to locally extreme heatwaves ongoing across central and southern parts of the State,” she said.
“Now the west coast is going to slip back into low-intensity heatwaves, for the most part.
“You can see the temperature in Perth has come down to 33C for tomorrow. But those severe to extreme heatwaves continue further inland.”
A slight cool breeze about 11am will bring wind gusts of 10-15 knots to suburbs along Perth’s coast including Cottesloe, Swanbourne, Scarborough and Fremantle.
In the north-east, there is chance of a thunderstorm developing in the evening, bringing with it the risk of dry lightning.
Sunday is forecast to be the only day in the next week where temperatures don’t reach at least 30C.
