Logan McDonald says he ‘can’t imagine being anywhere else’ as Sydney offer key forward longer-term deal

Swans forward and Mid West product Logan McDonald says he can’t see himself anywhere other than Sydney after the club offered him a significant deal beyond his two-year rookie contract.

“I love Sydney, it’s a beautiful place and a great club,” McDonald told the Guardian on Thursday.

“I don’t have a lot to complain about and I can’t imagine being anywhere else right now.

“Games are not far away now so it’s an exciting time of year.”

Logan’s dad, Darren McDonald, confirmed a report the club was willing to offer Logan a four-year extension.

The Swans have been contacted for comment.

News Corp reported the club was aiming to tie McDonald down as a replacement for Lance Franklin, who at 35 is in the last year of his contract.

It said McDonald, who went at pick No. 4 in the 2020 AFL draft, was the last top-five draftee yet to re-sign beyond his automatic rookie deal.

Adelaide key forward Riley Thilthorpe (pick two) and sweet-kicking Swan Braeden Campbell (five) agreed to new contracts until the end of the 2025 season but McDonald’s offer trumps them both, according to the report.

McDonald, born in 2002, kicked nine goals in seven games in his debut season for Sydney.

He played nippers for Ramblers in Carnarvon and seniors as a 15-year-old with Coorow-Latham in the North Midlands Football League.
