The 80,000th Mack truck to be manufactured in Australia is now proudly part of a local mining service’s fleet.

The milestone 300-ton rated 685hp Mack Titan was delivered to MLG in Kalgoorlie-Boulder this week, where it will be put to work as part of the firm’s bulk haulage fleet.

Managing director Murray Leahy said he was “immensely proud” to receive the truck as it could have gone anywhere in Australia.

“I think MLG’s journey with the Mack brand has been one that has seen us play a key part in helping the development of high-tonnage road trains that are being used pretty extensively across Western Australia now as a key part of servicing our satellite hub and spoke mining operations,” he said.

“We’re immensely proud and thankful for the support from both Truck Centre WA and also Mack Trucks Australia in helping us build our business around their product over the last 15 years.

“Our fleet’s growing pretty rapidly, it wasn’t that long ago we were celebrating truck number 100.

“This is truck number 150 of which is about a 70 per cent Mack fleet.”

Mack Trucks’ Richard Million visited the local workshop from the US this week and said MLG was an important customer for the distributor.

“I think it’s fitting that the 80,000th truck is going to (MLG),” he said.

“We appreciate the long co-operation and partnership over the years and are looking forward to the next deliveries in the future and continuing this partnership.”

The truck was delivered by Truck Centre WA’s Adrian Boeve who remembered delivering the first Mack truck to the MLG workshop in 2016.
