Ladder leaders B52’s made a triumphant comeback in the women’s A-grade competition in round 12 of the Geraldton water polo season, securing a 7-3 victory over the second-placed Demons side on Saturday.

Despite trailing early on due to an impressive showing from Demons star player, Billie Marshall, who scored spectacular goals for the early in the game, B52’s surged back in the final quarter.

Emma and Indi Smith delivered a masterclass in attack, while Taylor Penney’s outstanding goalkeeping kept Demons at bay. Marshall, Abbie MacDonald and Maggie Spiers were solid performers for the Demons. B52’s will be back in action against Rats next round.

In the men’s A grade on Saturday, B52’s continued their strong season form with a 6-4 win over a resilient Rats side. Kurt Tunbridge stood out, scoring twice and assisting in other key plays, while Drew Tunbridge added a late goal and led the defensive efforts.

Rats remained competitive until the third quarter, with Luke Nuewert and Darcy Wiffen central to their attacking and defensive strategies. Demons will face Rats next round, hoping to secure second spot on the ladder before finals.

The men’s B-grade saw B52’s extend their dominance with a commanding 16-7 victory over Rats. Jimmy Horsman was unstoppable, netting four goals, matched by Callum Sojan’s stellar performance.

Craig Harrington’s goalkeeping was crucial, stopping over a dozen shots early on. Next round, Rats will take on the Relics, while B52’s, already looking ahead to finals, will face Demons.

In women’s B-grade, Demons defeated an in-form B52’s side 8-2, with Billie and Maddie Marshall playing pivotal roles for the winners. Rats continued their good form, beating Serpents 9-3, led by Tessa O’Malley and Sarah De Laurentis.

The next round will see Rats clash with B52’s, and Demons face Serpents, as all sides remain hopeful of a finals berth.

B52’s secured their top spot in men’s C-grade with an 11-4 win over Demons. Spencer Sojan and Lucas Ronan were solid contributors. B52’s will meet Rats in the next round.

In women’s C-grade, Rats Black took an early lead against Demons Yellow, ultimately winning 9-5. Serpents Green claimed derby bragging rights with a 9-6 victory over Serpents Blue.

B52’s edged out Demons Black 5-4, thanks to Delta Horsman’s outstanding performance.

Round 13 promises excitement as Rats Black and Orange face off in a derby for the top spot, Serpents Blue take on Demons Black, and B52’s look to bounce back against Demons Yellow.
