They’re each $10 million richer, but after a celebratory Tomahawk ribeye with their families, three friends from the eastern suburbs plan to keep on working.

The trio bought the only winning ticket in last week’s $30 million Powerball jackpot at a High Wycombe newsagency — just as they have done for the past nine years.

While their numbers came up on Thursday evening, the trio didn’t get the amazing news until Saturday.

“I had a few tickets to check but when I got to this one the retailer quietly took me to one side,” a winner, who wished to remain anonymous, said.

“I didn’t even realise there was a win in Perth, when he told me I had won $30 million, I was completely baffled.”

The shop owner said to “go straight home, take a few breaths and enjoy the moment”.

The trio kept it to themselves during the Easter long-weekend as they came to terms with the incredible news.

“I could barely think straight while chatting with family on Easter Sunday,” the winner said.

“It feels like an out-of-body experience”.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Zoe Wender confirmed the trio would be sharing the jackpot equally — each taking home $10 million.

“I think the news is still very much sinking in for the winners,” she said. “There was talk of some family holidays, making memories for the children, maybe heading over to Melbourne to watch some footy.”

Mrs Wender also said the trio planned to continue working — although they had turned their minds to possible early retirements.

But not before spoiling friends and families with a celebratory steak dinner.

“I think one of the winners’ kids was after a tomahawk (steak). And they said, ‘Yeah, we can organise that for you’,” Mrs Wender said.

After years of selling and checking Lotto tickets, The Village News shop owner Jimmy Wang said he was left speechless when he checked the winning ticket during Saturday’s Easter rush.

“I was shocked, and so was the customer,” Mr Wang said.

“For the past 15 years of running the shop, I think the biggest Lotto win has been about $100, so when I saw the $30 million number, I was just like ‘oh my God!’”

“It’s so exciting and great news for the shop too.”

It was WA’s first Powerball division one win of the year.

“It’s always so exciting when we have a division one win in Western Australia,” Mrs Wender said.

“We haven’t had a $30 million win since October last year, when a group of 15 workmates also shared a $30 million Powerball prize.”
