Pacific MMA fighters dominate sixth-fight show series
Twenty fighters from Kalgoorlie-Boulder and across the State entered the ring to prove their mettle on Saturday night.
Hosted by Pacific MMA Promotions, the sixth instalment in the Red Dust Fight Show series saw a range of disciplines on display including boxing, kickboxing, mixed martial arts and Muay Thai across 10 fights.
The match card displayed a strong local line-up from Pacific MMA and Kalgoorlie Kickboxing who battled against fighters from gyms in Perth and Geraldton at the Goldfields Oasis.
Pacific MMA dominated, taking home eight out of the 10 fights on display during the evening.
The event concluded with two main fights for Regional Goldfields Belts, with Pacific MMA’s Tomoana Wijohn defeating Geraldton Boxing Centre’s Shane “Stone Cold” Van Styn during fight nine.
Wijohn put on a powerful display to claim a win over the Geraldton mayor.
The crowd of spectators thundered as mixed martial arts fighters Daryl Paille from Pacific MMA and Otto “The Accountant” Taamia from XMEN MMA entered the octagon for the final bout of the evening.
The local fighter proved too strong for Taamia, with the match cut short after a knockout during the first round, handing Paille the belt.
