The parents of a toddler who was caught wandering onto a major road in Adelaide’s northern suburbs has blamed a faulty gate for the little girl’s escape.

Horrifying dashcam footage taken from a car driving along the Salisbury Highway on Sunday caught the moment the girl walked into the middle of the road.

Traffic managed to come to an immediate halt after seeing the little girl, named Pimchan, who stood in the middle of the road and turning towards the cars.

A couple of men quickly jumped out of their cars and raced to get her to safety, with one picking her up and carrying her off the road.

She was uninjured and handed back over to her father.

It’s understood the girl’s mother was at work at the time, while her father was cleaning the family car outside and didn’t see his daughter slipping out from the fence and onto the road.

After being scooped up by a good Samaritan, the girl was returned to the Adelaide home to her shocked father, who could only respond with, “Oh my”.

“I didn’t see my baby running and go to the road,” the father told 7News.

The family, who have been living in the unit for two years, have since said the gate on their property is to blame for the toddler’s dangerous adventure.

The gate, which is approximately 10m in height, is in need of repairs and off its hinges, left open for residents to easily access their properties.

The family is now urging the landlords to install an electric fence to prevent any future runaways.

“I need this one changed, the gate,” the Adelaide mother said. “Better for me also and my baby also.”
