Tash Peterson kicked out of IGA in Great Southern after refusing to wear a mask

Notorious vegan activist, turned anti-vaxxer, Tash Peterson is back at it again — this time in WA’s Great Southern.

The serial pest filmed herself and her boyfriend Jack Higgs being told to leave a busy supermarket in Denmark on Friday, after refusing to wear a mask.

Peterson, who is known for being outspoken about her extreme views, refused to leave the store before being forced out by staff — which she called a “violation of her human rights”.

As of 6pm Thursday January 27, Premier Mark McGowan expanded the mask wearing rule to the Great Southern area as the Denmark cluster continues to grow.

The couple, who vehemently refused to leave, told staff they were “medically exempt”, but when asked to show proof of their exemption, Peterson said she didn’t have to show them, or police, that information.

Under the Emergency Management Act 2005, it states that a person who is medically exempt from wearing a mask must produce a medical certificate to a “reasonable person” — including police and shop owners when asked.

In a video posted to the activist’s Instagram account, Peterson details the encounter saying it was “crazy” that the public viewed them as “bad people.”

“Jack and I are in Denmark Western Australia... it’s not a city, it’s almost about five hours away from the nearest city - Perth - which is where I live,” she started the video.

“(Thursday), a majority of people weren’t wearing masks... and some mandate has been enforced as of today (Friday), and Jack and I were refused entry on the basis of not wearing a mask into both of the Super IGA supermarkets here.

“It’s crazy to see the public reaction, and suddenly we’re being viewed as really bad people. When literally yesterday, basically no one was wearing masks,” she continues her rant.

“We managed to get through one of the IGA’s. They called the cops on us, and we just said ‘well whatever we’re going to do our shopping’.

“They tried to see our medical information when we said we had an exemption, and we don’t have to show them that... we don’t have to show the police any of our medical information.”

The owner of the supermarket approaches the maskless couple, and pleads with them to wear one — saying it’s a “$15,000 fine for us as well.”

During the video, Peterson and Higgs cop a mouthful from furious shoppers who are all wearing masks, demanding the controversial duo do the same.

“One man came up and called me an ass*** because I wasn’t wearing a mask. People were calling us idiots. The manager of one of the IGA’s came and shouted really aggressively at us, telling us to get out,” she said.

In the video, Peterson yells back saying “I’m seeing a bunch of brain washed zombie’s complying to what?”

Things soon became heated when Peterson refused to leave the store, forcing an employee to push her out.

They were told to put back all items and not purchase anything because they weren’t complying with the rules.

“Shameful, absolutely shameful. You’re disgusting too, piece of sh*t” Peterson said to staff members as she was kicked out of the store.

The latest public stunt comes after the activist was booted from a livestock pen at the Perth Royal Show in September, after jumping the fence and disrupting the contest.

In a video posted to social media, Peterson, 26, could be seen holding up a sign in the middle of the ring in full view of confused families, yelling: “These gentle and innocent beings are going to be brutally murdered and shot in the head. They’re just as gentle and loving as beloved dogs and cats.”

Moments later she is grabbed by the pants and rustled out of the pen by a cattle owner.

The Royal Agricultural Society of WA said Peterson had potentially put herself, the crowd and the animals in danger.

“We have trained stewards within the ring who are caring for the safety of our volunteers, our members and the safety of the animals in the ring,” it said in a statement.
