KNA 2024: More opportunities for juniors as holidays leave teams short for return of netball

As school holidays came to a close, Katanning Netball Association had an interesting week amid round 10.

With NetSet having another week off, it was “go” juniors who opened matches on Saturday. However, with many families away it left many alterations for teams.

Go juniors were pulling kids up from the “set” division to complete full teams to keep the competition rolling.

Juniors were also sharing players out of their division, some playing “go” juniors and some in seniors.

These children to be pulled up will be partaking in the next division in 2025, so is a good time to let them feel what next season will be for them.

Seniors had a smaller afternoon of games.

Some teams opted to reschedule their matches to midweek prior to the holidays starting.

In A1, Te Taitonga 1 and Kojonup 1 battled it out for half a game, with the lead bumping from one to the other.

But it was Kojonup 1 who put their foot down after half-time and secured victory 61-44.

Allstars 1 and Cardinals Force was a close game for the majority, but Cardinals just couldn’t keep up with Allstars, who won 57-47.

Kojonup 2 and Olympians 1 gave the crowd a good game in a goal-for-goal battle.

The extra kick was provided by Kojonup 2 who won a thriller 47-44.

There were upsets in A2 with Allstars 2 having a tough battle in their rescheduled game with Cardinals Fever.

However, they weren’t leaving without the win, Allstars claiming a 49-39 win.

Olympians 2 turned the tables and managed a healthy win against Dumbleyung, 56-37.

Broomehill again were not giving up their top spot.

Facing Te Taitonga 2, it was a close game until Broomehill came in hard at the end to win 58-24.

In A3 there was another midweek game between Allstars 3 and Cardinals Phoenix.

With an almighty battle between the two, it was a fight to the end that ended in a 35-35 draw.

Kojonup 4 had their eye on victory in a well contested game against Te Taitonga 3.

In the end Kojonup 4 took the win 42-29 while Kojonup 3 had the bye.

Normal games resume this Saturday and then three junior teams will be off the following weekend to compete in the Great Southern Championships in Albany.
