Allstars 1 outlasted a gallant Kojonup 1 to claim the Katanning Netball Association A1 premiership as players, coaches and spectators filled Katanning Leisure Centre for grand finals across all grades on Saturday.

A1 was the game of the day everyone was waiting for, Kojonup 1 and Allstars 1 making the grand final.

There was exceptionally strong play from every player as they put their bodies on the line.

It was clear that no one was going to give in until that final whistle, with both teams trading blows as they grappled for the top spot.

The crowd was the eighth player on both sides with spectators spilling into the corridors and surrounding courts.

With such a heavily contested game, smiles were still everywhere on the court from both teams.

Allstars managed to be the one to up the pace and pump in the extra goals needed to take a memorable 60-51 title victory.

A2 was another epic game of two top teams up for a big game.

Broomehill was undefeated all year until the first round of finals and Allstars 2 knew it was going to be a tough game.

Trading goal for goal and both teams making great interceptions, was a spectators’ dream.

Broomehill had the extra ‘oomph’ when it came to scoring in the last quarter, with Allstars 2 unable to keep up.

It was such a great game and great player sportsmanship but Broomehill took the premiership away, 52-43.

A3 had two Kojonup teams head to head.

Being each others’ biggest supporters, they found themselves in the battle of all battles for 2024.

For the first time this year, both teams were close majority of the way.

Kojonup 3 upped their defence as well as offence, allowing them to grab the win and claim the title with a hard-fought 45-37 result.

Opening the day, the GO juniors, who will be moving on to the next division next year, put on a showcase game.

This was exciting as these players are all in the same age groups, making it very competitive.

With a great game by all, these girls can’t wait to be in the next stage of their netball lives next year.

In the junior division, NAB Lightning and Kojonup Sapphires had everyone on the edge of their seats all four quarters, pulling all sorts of manoeuvres and great spectacular plays out for the big day.

Both teams had their super strengths in each third, the ball pinging from one end to the other with deflections and rebounds.

Only a few goals buffered the whole game, it was nerves all around to see who was going to put their foot down in the last few minutes.

NAB found that power and put the hammer down to take victory, 33-29.

With the end of the KNA winter competition next up is the over-30s carnival on Sunday, October 20 at the KLC.
