The family of a puppy, stolen from Perth’s southern suburbs, say they are “ecstatic” after being reunited with their pet pooch.

Honey — a four-month-old Cavoodle — was stolen from Pennlake Drive, Spearwood, on Sunday morning after escaping through Alex Ricciardi’s mother-in-law’s side gate.

CCTV footage captured Honey happily running along Pennlake Drive before a black Hyundai IX35 slowly pulls up and takes her away.

Mr Ricciardi said the CCTV footage enabled police to identify the registration number of the IX35.

“Honey was found due to the CCTV finding the registration number of the vehicle and so forth,” he told The West.

“The police knew the offenders who took the dog and they knew the whereabouts of the places they were staying.”

WA Police confirmed they investigated the incident and located Honey in East Victoria Park on Monday.

“The puppy was returned safe and well to its owner,” a spokesperson said.

Inquiries are still ongoing.

“She was absolutely ecstatic ... the whole family is really, really happy,” Mr Ricciardi said.

“She had a German shepherd who passed away ... so we decided to get her a smaller dog and ended up buying Honey about two months ago, and she’s just been in love with her from the get-go.”

Mr Ricciardi thanked the community for their support.

“I just want to say thanks to the community, thanks to our family and friends ... and thanks to WA Police,” he said.

“The police were absolutely amazing, their communication was really, really, really good.”
