West Australians aged 30 to 49 will be eligible to receive the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine from Thursday, Premier Mark McGowan has announced.

The different State-run clinics will start offering the jab to the new cohort at different points.

The State-run clinic at Claremont Showgrounds will offer the Pfizer jab to the new cohort from this Thursday, June 10. Its capacity will increase to 2000 jabs per day. The clinic will offer AstraZeneca Monday through Wednesday.

From Monday June, 21, the Joondalup and Kwinana State-run vaccination clinics will also start to provide both types of COVID-19 vaccines on different days, with capacity to administer 1,500 and 2,000 vaccines each day respectively.

The Redcliffe State-run vaccination clinic near Perth airport will start offering both vaccines the following week (from June 28), with 700 appointments a day.

Vaccination clinics in regional areas will also be offering both types of vaccine.

The new Bunbury clinic — located at the Bunbury Homemaker Centre — will be open 8.30am to 4pm to administer the Pfizer COVID vaccine on Tuesdays to Thursdays and the AstraZeneca appointments will be filled on Mondays and Fridays.

Elsewhere in the regions, respiratory clinics, Aboriginal Medical services, and 75 health service clinics operated by the WA Country Health Service will give out the jab.

To book a vaccine appointment, call 13 COVID (13 26843) between 8am and 6pm, seven days a week. Alternatively, visit rollup.wa.gov.au to book it online.

Mr McGowan called on the Commonwealth to ramp up supplies of the AstraZeneca vaccine to GPs and for pharmacists to be allowed to administer jabs.

Health Minister Roger Cook said WA had about 150,000 vaccine doses in stock, including more than 107,000 Pfizer doses.

A further 1.2 million doses are expected to arrive in the next six weeks.

“This is a significant day for WA,” he said.

“What we are announcing today is a huge expansion of our vaccination program.”
