Ashley Johnson continues to kick goals following up his impressive debut and second game performances

Kimberley players continued to put in solid performances in AFL round 20 as the competition rapidly approaches the finals.

The Collingwood Magpies beat down the Port Adelaide Power at the MCG on Saturday morning.

Halls Creek’s Ashley Johnson followed up his spectacular performance last round with another solid showing against the Power this round, kicking a goal and a behind showing off his skills in the full forward position.

It was a close match nonetheless though, with the Magpies taking the win from Port Adelaide by just one goal, 13.10 (88) to 12.10 (82).

The Adelaide Crows had a solid victory over the Carlton Blues at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Halls Creek’s Shane McAdam was back in action for the Crows, sitting in the half forward position.

He managed to score a behind in the pointy end of the final term, coming away from the match having made 13 disposals.

After a patchy start the Adelaide Crows soared on to victory, striking down the Carlton Blues by 29 points, 12.12 (84) to 8.7 (55).

The Gold Coast Suns beat back the West Coast Eagles to take the win on Sunday morning at Metricon Stadium.

It was a somewhat quiet performance for young Jy Farrar from Halls Creek, who managed just one tackle in the half back position and made a eight disposals throughout the game.

The Eagles were down by 20 points at third quarter time but made an impressive comeback in the last term kicking seven goals and closing the gap to just three points.

But it wasn’t enough, with the Suns taking home the win, 16.11 (107) to 16.8 (104).

Unfortunately there was no sign of Halls Creek’s Sam Petrevski-Seton for West Coast.

It was a close fight between the two big cats, the Richmond Tigers and the Brisbane Lions, but it was the Tigers who came out as king of the jungle in the Sunday afternoon clash at the MCG.

Derby’s Callum Ah Chee put in a solid performance in the centre making 15 disposals over the course of the game.

The Tigers were trailing badly in the first half before launching a spectacular counter attack in the second half, stealing the victory from the Lions’ jaws and winning by 7 points, 15.14 (104) to 14.13 (97).

Broome local Bailey Banfield was a medical sub this round and unfortunately wasn’t played in the Fremantle Dockers loss to the Melbourne Demons by 46 points, 12.13 (85) to 5.9 (39).
