Body found in search for former jockey Keith Banks
Police have found a body believed to be former jockey Keith Banks following a widespread search for the 81-year-old in NSW’s Hunter region.
Mr Banks was reported missing after he was last seen at his Woolooma home on Monday afternoon.
Police and family held concerns for Mr Banks, who had dementia, due to his health.
He left his home, east of Scone, in a dark grey Honda sedan and stopped at the Gundy General Store.
A multi-agency search was launched and his vehicle was found at Upper Rouchel on Wednesday afternoon.
On Friday, a body was located at Upper Rouchel.
NSW Police said the body had not been formally identified but was believed to be Mr Banks.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Mr Banks had a 28-year career as a jockey including riding in two Melbourne Cups.
