Rovers still undefeated after one-goal win against Caledonians in men’s premier league

Rovers kept their perfect season intact after a thrilling victory in round eight of the Great Southern Soccer Association men’s premier league on Saturday.

Rovers are yet to lose a game in the 2020 season and a second-half goal by Bradley Chapman ensured that remained the case, defeating Caledonians 1-0.

A brace by Connor Bunce guided Polonia to a 5-0 victory over Phoenix in the other men’s premier league match.

Polonia led 1-0 at half-time before adding four goals in the second half to secure the victory as Jeremy Wallis, Jason Wilson and Oliver Trichilo also netted goals.

A Jade Dekker brace helped Phoenix stop Denmark’s hot form in the women’s premier league.

Denmark have been the form team of the competition and trailed by two goals at half time but Phoenix added two goals in the second 45 minutes to run out 5-1 winners.

Polonia prevailed 5-2 over Caledonians in the other women’s premier league match thanks to two goals from Ellie Senior.

A second-half goal to Matthew Randall ensured Polonia drew 1-1 with Bayswater in the men’s reserves competition while Caledonians won 1-0 over Rovers and Royals defeated Port Albany 3-2 after a double from Hayden Calton.

In the women’s reserves competition Port Albany and Polonia drew 2-2, Mt Barker finished emphatic 7-1 winners over Phoenix, Royals won 5-2 over Great Southern Grammar and Rovers thumped Denmark 6-1.

On Tuesday night in the men’s social/masters competition Rovers socials and Denmark drew 2-2, while The Old Boys, Polonia and Rovers Vets won their games.

In the women’s social competition Polonia recorded a 3-1 win over Grammar while four goals from Oliver McEwan guided Denmark to 7-4 win over Bayswater in a high-scoring affair.
