Albany residents have been invited to reflect on the standard of services and infrastructure provided by the City of Albany as the biennial scorecard survey rating its performance as a local government opens.

Open from March 10-28, the MARKYT community scorecard asks residents’ opinions of everything from libraries, roads and festivals to crime prevention, housing and health services.

City of Albany mayor Greg Stocks encouraged residents to complete the survey, saying the community’s input “directly influences the priorities we set and the improvements we make”.

“This survey is a chance for residents to tell us what matters most to them and how we can continue to improve,” he said.“The results help us understand what we are doing well and where we need to focus our efforts to ensure Albany remains a great place to live.

“We want to hear from as many people as possible, as every voice counts in shaping our city’s future.”

Conducted every two years, the survey benchmarks the city’s performance against other WA local governments and informs the review of the city’s Strategic Community Plan.

Results from the 2021 scorecard revealed Albany to be the best-performing regional local government in the State with a score of 75/100.

The most recent 2023 survey, however, had a drop to 66/100, still two points above the average of 64.

Results from that survey showed that housing, community safety and crime prevention, health and community services and sealed roads were the community’s highest-priority areas which need to be focused on.

The survey is available on the City of Albany website: albany.wa.gov.au/consultations/public-comment/community-scorecard-2025.
