Perth boys to face string of serious charges after alleged crime speed involving car pursuit in Great Southern

Three juveniles allegedly involved in a car pursuit with police on Albany Highway in the Great Southern on Monday have been arrested and charged. At about 9am on Monday, a stolen Holden Colorado was spotted by police on Albany Highway near Kendenup driving in a reckless manner. The vehicle was stolen from a property in Boddington during the evening of August 20-21. Police were involved in a short pursuit of the vehicle before they lost sight of it near Martagallup Road. The same stolen car was then sighted by police officers who followed it until again losing sight near Mt Barker. At about 10.10am, the vehicle was left abandoned on Brady Corner in McKail. Police seized the car and continued investigations and soon after executed a search warrant at a home in McKail. During that search, detectives arrested and charged three alleged juvenile offenders in relation to the pursuit and other previous offences. A 14-year-old boy from Perth, a 13-year-old boy from Perth and a 17-year-old boy from Perth made brief court appearances in Albany Children’s Court on Tuesday where they were remanded in custody. The 17-year-old is facing serious driving charges including reckless driving to escape pursuit and driver failing to comply with a direction to stop in circumstances of aggravation. He was also charged with no authority to drive from the Great Southern incident. Adding to that the 17-year-old is on a string of charges from Innaloo and Boddington earlier this month. Those include two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, aggravated robbery, no authority to drive, aggravated home burglary and assault occasioning bodily harm. Both the 14-year-old and 13-year-old boys are facing two counts of stealing a motor vehicle plus charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated home burglary and assault occasioning bodily harm. The 17-year-old and 13-year-old were due to appear in Perth Children’s Court on August 23 while the 14-year-old’s next court appearance was set to be August 25 in Perth Children’s Court as well. Acting Senior Sergeant officer-in-charge, Dave Loverock said they allege the teenage boys were involved in a string of serious crimes. Act. Sen. Sgt Loverock said the trio dumped a stolen car in Boddington where they broke into a house and stole keys to another vehicle and then continued on to Albany. He said the pursuit was aborted due to the reckless manner of the driving.
