Teenage driver Brock Pearce emerged unscathed after a nasty rollover in his junior sedan at Mt Barker’s Les Gorman Park last Saturday.

Pearce was racing in the junior sedans at daylight venue and had completed three laps in the final when he rode out a huge crash, his car flipping and rolling wildly in front of concerned spectators.

He was immediately attended to by infield emergency response crews and walked away without any serious injury, but his car sustained heavy damage.

The crash happened during the meeting that was highlighted by the Ronnie J Street Stock Memorial and the Kelvin Sobey Memorial.

The Kelvin Sobey Memorial highest points trophy went to Brock’s sibling Jarrod Pearce.

Jarrod Pearce won two heat races and the junior final to be the highest point-scoring Mt Barker member at the event.

He claimed overall honours in the junior sedans ahead of Baxter Trouchet and Chesta Grinham.

In the Ronnie J Street Stock Memorial, Albany driver Peter Herbert finished a dominant winner of the 20-lap feature race.

Herbert won by 8.405 seconds from Anthony Perrella, while Jason Batchelor filled third place.

Keith Fitzgerald (19 laps) was the only other driver to take the chequered flag after a drama-tic final where several competi-tors, including Paul Bowman, retired.

Earlier, Bowman and Perrella won two heat races and the other preliminary went to Herbert.
