Albany Roller Derby League’s Learn to Skate program returning to Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre in March
Whether you’re a beginner or keen to polish your skills, the experts at Albany Roller Derby League are ready to get you rolling as their Learn to Skate program returns.
Registration is essential for the four-week program, which starts at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre on March 2.
The one-of-a-kind initiative aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for anyone over 18 who is keen to learn the basics of rollerskating and prepare them for the 2025 roller derby season.
Each Sunday for four weeks, skilled coaches will teach participants essential skating skills, including balancing, stopping, crossovers, and backwards skating.
“This is the perfect opportunity for anyone interested in rollerskating or thinking about joining our roller derby team to get a solid foundation,” coach Natalie Jarvis said.
“We provide all the gear needed, so all you have to bring is enthusiasm and the willingness to learn.”
No prior experience is necessary, and skates, helmet and protective gear are provided.
Learn to Skate runs from 1pm-2pm on Sundays from March 2-23 at the ALAC.
Tickets cost $60, plus a $30 insurance fee, and are available at www.albanyrollerderby.com.au/joinus.
