Christmas shoppers needing a break from retail madness popping into Dandelion on the west deck at Karrinyup Shopping Centre will notice a few changes.

The popular restaurant, bar and distillery has transformed into Italian kitchen and spritz bar Ciao Dandy, which opens on December 6.

The summer pop-up is part of Parker Group, the hospitality stable behind Dandelion as well as The Royal, Fleur, Willi’s Pizza Bar, Busselton Pavilion and the Standard.

Parker Group head of culinary Brendan Pratt and Dandelion head chef Matthew Payne have created a menu evoking coastal Italy, with fresh seafood, delicious meats and a tempting tiramisu cannoli.

Standout dishes according to Pratt include the juicy tiger prawns poached in a rich tomato sugo with fresh herbs, handmade pastas and local octopus.

“We were inspired by holiday-makers that made their way to the Italian coast for the European summer, and we want to bring that to Perth for our summer,” Pratt said.

“I’m super excited to cook fresh, approachable, delicious food, inspired by coastal Italian dishes for Perth diners this summer.”

Cocktail queen Elise Godwin, the distiller responsible for Dandelion’s spirit brand Fine and Dandy, has created a comprehensive spritz list along with cocktail menu in keeping with the Mediterranean vibes of Ciao Dandy.

Drinks include an Eat, Pray, Aperol blending the Italian liqueur with passionfruit, while the sweet and zesty Chillo Limoncello is sure to be popular.

“The Fine and Dandy berry gin in the Pink Gin Spritz is made in-house and is the best local pink gin you’ll find with all the sweetness from the fruit rather than additives,” Godwin explained.

Ciao Dandy is the latest Parker Group venue to lean into Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, following the rejig of The Standard’s menu for its 10th birthday and the relaunch of The Royal’s corner saloon bar as Willi’s Pizza Bar.

Ciao Dandy is open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday from December 6 for a limited season.
