‘Voice for women’ continues to grow

CWA of WA threw open its doors to the public last Tuesday for its annual open day, attracting more than 100 people to its West Perth headquarters.

More than 25 per cent of CWA members in WA are based in the The Country Women’s Association of WA threw open its doors to the public last Tuesday for its annual open day, attracting more than 100 people to its West Perth headquarters.

More than 25 per cent of CWA members in WA are based in the metropolitan area.

After Nungarin — which is 95 years old — the metropolitan branch is one of the organisation’s s oldest groups.

CWA of WA president Elaine Johnson said the open day had attracted prospective members, supporters and existing members.

“CWA is a voice for all women,” she said. “Our membership is growing and new branches are in the main being started by women in their 20s and 30s in outer metro Perth and regional centres.

“If anyone shares our vision and wants to enrich their local area by starting a new branch of CWA, we’d love to talk to them.”

The open day gave guests the chance to view displays of the CWA’s history, its activities and projects, find out about the benefits of membership and what various branches were doing to enrich communities, and view handicrafts created by members.
